'Coz style and comfort go hand in hand!

So, I am dating a guy and he loves to wear shorts. He is a sucker for comfort and can wear them to every occasion and not that I am biased, but he totally carries them off! He has unusually nice legs which are “just about perfect” in an athletic, muscular, toned sort of way. But the one issue I have is that they are too casual to be worn for a nice outing. So I thought why not browse around a little, look at the different styles of shorts available in market and pen down about the do's and don'ts of men and their love for shorts:

1.  Get hold of a nice Flat front pair of shorts in khaki or a nice olive, stone or navy color. in any length from mid-thigh down to mid-knee. Pair it up with a short sleeve button-down shirt or a cool funky tee. Talking about flat front, guys Pleated shorts are for all us women out here. Plz wear them only when you are going out to play golf plus you have super toned abdomen!

2.  You should own at least one pair of board shorts meant for aquatic sports if you are in a hot climate or a beach committee.

3.  Okay Linen shorts are the hottest thing in the world if you know how to carry them off. Pair them with a nice leather sandal and a short sleeved linen shirt/polo and you will make heads turn.

4.  Do invest in a trendy pair of Plaid shorts. Plaid is definitely a popular print for shorts. If you like plaid but don't like loud plaid, then get the classic look of a smaller plaid like the latter one.

5.  A pair of good cargo shorts is a must have (I love them;). They usually come in four basic colors: beige, mud, military green and black and they have a nice trim look to them. You will really appreciate them in the summer for keys, wallet n all that you need to keep in the countless pockets they have. However plzzzzz don't forget "the ratio” of these pockets to your age. The older you are, the smaller the pocket needs to be. You don’t wanna look like a wannabe teenager with those big baggy pockets.

6.  Okay there’s this grey pair of Drawstring shorts I’m in love with. They’re very reasonably priced and look super preppy. Get one at Zara or Nautica. ( The best part..eat as much as you want and then loosen these up :p)

7.  Please please plz don't wear gym/athletic shorts during a dinner out, a day out around town, and especially don’t wear them on a date. No matter how great you look in those black or blue gym shorts, it's best to save them for the gym.

8.  The most important one: Say goodbye to those cut-offs or jean shorts. They just don’t make fashion sense. And putting on a belt, tucking in your shirt and/or clipping your cell phone to your waist won't help the situation. Sport a nice pair of light weight denims, a nice cotton shirt and leather flip flops if you wanna wear denims during summer.

The next big factor is deciding which shoes to wear with shorts. It is confusing to many, but it doesn’t have to be. One thing to keep in mind while pairing up shoes with shorts is the occassion where you are headed towards.
For the Casual Shorts you wear while hanging around on the weekend, running errands or going to market when you’re not looking to impress anyone, but you don’t want to look bad either.
  •  Invest in a good pair of flip flops. Invest in one from Tommy Hilfiger.
  •  A nice pair of floaters or traditional sandals from Fab India.
  •  You can’t go wrong with Converse sneakers. They will look great with any pair of shorts.
For the Casual semi formal outings where you need to look respectable, but not dressy, like a cricket game with your friends at your favorite BAR or a date with your girlfriend.
  •  Loafers are a must have this season. Have a look at the collection of loafers POLO has in stores this   summer with check prints, laces etc...(P.S. Please get a pair of no show ankle socks or don’t wear one with loafers…I have begged my little brother to stop wearing socks with loafers coz that is one hell of a disaster)
  •  Leather sneakers…again Try Polo or Adidas for those good to go pairs.
  •  Invest in a pair of lightweight, stable Leather Sandals that show you care what you look like, but still allow you to be comfortable. Louis Philippe has got amazing collection of leather sandals in hues of mud, beige and tan. They range in between 3k-4k but totally worth the price.
