Beat the heat with trendy shorts this Summer!

We all crave for ease when it comes to clothes...but they better be stylish too! We women just care a little too much about how we're looking in what we're wearing, and the first question that comes to our mind when we step in front of the mirror is....yes you guessed it right ;)
"Am i looking fat in this?!"
We all know it in our minds that the body types that have been mentioned in the subject of style were definitely defined keeping women in mind.....ever heard of a guy questioning about his body type! I haven't...
So the temperatures are soaring high n you will be wondering what to wear to getaway from the scorching heat.....Let me help you. Grab a couple of pairs of comfortable temperature-defying shorts for the season that fit your body type. And don't worry you don't have to sacrifice fashion for fit trying to hide some imperfect hips, thighs and legs or if you are carrying a few extra pounds. You can look great in shorts too! Just choose a pair of shorts that compliment your frame. Like men, there are different types of shorts for women too...i have jot down basic information about these to help you find a pair that suits you:

1) Capri shorts: These are the shorts that end a few inches above the ankle. If you dont want too much of a show or you get self conscious wearing shorter shorts, grab a pair of these in whichever color and fabric you want, i would suggest cotton or linen. Plus these are allowed at workplaces/offices...they're in mine! :) You'll find a great collection at Benetton outlets, Westside and Lifestyle;FabIndia and W has colorful linen capris in stores too.

2) Board shorts: They are the perfect choice for a sporty woman and come in all sorts of colors and lengths. They are not too revealing and will keep you super comfy yet stylish during summer days and fun water activities. Get a pair from westside or swimsuit stores around.

3) Booty shorts: These shorts are amazingly popular among young girls. They have names or  phrases written across the rear (I've got one too...it reads Hello kitty! :p but sadly i've grown fat for those). They are best suited for women with thin legs and trim bottoms. Get your hands on one if you can carry one in cotton, polyester or silk and be fun and flirty!

4) Blossoming shorts: These are snug at the waist and lose from the thighs. They can come in a flat front or pleated style, plain or with patterns like stripes, checks etc. Avoid stripes if you've a heavy bottom. Girls with oh-so-perfect figure can flaunt a nice pair of pleated ones in these and pair a checked pair up with a nice solid color polo or a plain color shorts with checked shirt and you'll look your best! Get your hands on these beautiful pairs from Zara, Mango or Lifestyle.

5) Rolled up or cuffed leg shorts: If you're tall and  thin...shop now for a pair in jeans or cotton fabric. They are comfortable and stylish. I will tell you a little secret about these...these can give a curvier touch  to your thin legs..n who doesn't like curves right! Find these at Zara, Benetton stores.

6) Bermuda shorts: These are knee length shorts and perfect for curvy figures and women with flabby thighs. Actually according to me anyone can wear these as they give a dressy look. Wear these while travel, shopping or a fun evening with your girlfriends.
(P.S. My personal style tip for these shorts....Grab a pair in a nice beige or mud color...pair up with a fitted white or black tee..accessorize with a nice Y suspender, put on a pair of moccasins and you're good to go. )

7) Shorter shorts: If you have short legs then get a pair of these but make sure they are not folded or cuffed up coz that will make your legs look even shorter. Check out the colorful collection at Madame, Benetton,Lifestyle and Zara this season.

8) Mid length shorts: They end in the middle of the thigh and are suitable for any body type. They can disguise that flab on your upper thighs and look very classy. Make sure you buy one that are slim fit and not loose from the bottom.

9) High waist shorts: These are a new trend and perfect for those fun filled evenings with your friends at the clubs, or a date with your boyfriend. They usually come with multiple buttons down your waist, pleated or flat front. Get one and tuck in a nice frilly top for a date...or with a sexy metallic one for an evening in club.

10) Funky print shorts: Get a pair in cotton, polyester or satin and pair with solid color v-neck or round neck cute tees for a casual drive around the city or running errands. These can be short or mid length.
(Tip: Try coaxing your boyfriend into giving you his favorite cartoon boxers, they can well serve the purpose ;)

(P.S. Do not forget to check the rear view when trying on a new style of shorts. Certain cuts of shorts tend to ride higher from the back and may be too revealing.)   XOXO

'Coz style and comfort go hand in hand!

So, I am dating a guy and he loves to wear shorts. He is a sucker for comfort and can wear them to every occasion and not that I am biased, but he totally carries them off! He has unusually nice legs which are “just about perfect” in an athletic, muscular, toned sort of way. But the one issue I have is that they are too casual to be worn for a nice outing. So I thought why not browse around a little, look at the different styles of shorts available in market and pen down about the do's and don'ts of men and their love for shorts:

1.  Get hold of a nice Flat front pair of shorts in khaki or a nice olive, stone or navy color. in any length from mid-thigh down to mid-knee. Pair it up with a short sleeve button-down shirt or a cool funky tee. Talking about flat front, guys Pleated shorts are for all us women out here. Plz wear them only when you are going out to play golf plus you have super toned abdomen!

2.  You should own at least one pair of board shorts meant for aquatic sports if you are in a hot climate or a beach committee.

3.  Okay Linen shorts are the hottest thing in the world if you know how to carry them off. Pair them with a nice leather sandal and a short sleeved linen shirt/polo and you will make heads turn.

4.  Do invest in a trendy pair of Plaid shorts. Plaid is definitely a popular print for shorts. If you like plaid but don't like loud plaid, then get the classic look of a smaller plaid like the latter one.

5.  A pair of good cargo shorts is a must have (I love them;). They usually come in four basic colors: beige, mud, military green and black and they have a nice trim look to them. You will really appreciate them in the summer for keys, wallet n all that you need to keep in the countless pockets they have. However plzzzzz don't forget "the ratio” of these pockets to your age. The older you are, the smaller the pocket needs to be. You don’t wanna look like a wannabe teenager with those big baggy pockets.

6.  Okay there’s this grey pair of Drawstring shorts I’m in love with. They’re very reasonably priced and look super preppy. Get one at Zara or Nautica. ( The best part..eat as much as you want and then loosen these up :p)

7.  Please please plz don't wear gym/athletic shorts during a dinner out, a day out around town, and especially don’t wear them on a date. No matter how great you look in those black or blue gym shorts, it's best to save them for the gym.

8.  The most important one: Say goodbye to those cut-offs or jean shorts. They just don’t make fashion sense. And putting on a belt, tucking in your shirt and/or clipping your cell phone to your waist won't help the situation. Sport a nice pair of light weight denims, a nice cotton shirt and leather flip flops if you wanna wear denims during summer.

The next big factor is deciding which shoes to wear with shorts. It is confusing to many, but it doesn’t have to be. One thing to keep in mind while pairing up shoes with shorts is the occassion where you are headed towards.
For the Casual Shorts you wear while hanging around on the weekend, running errands or going to market when you’re not looking to impress anyone, but you don’t want to look bad either.
  •  Invest in a good pair of flip flops. Invest in one from Tommy Hilfiger.
  •  A nice pair of floaters or traditional sandals from Fab India.
  •  You can’t go wrong with Converse sneakers. They will look great with any pair of shorts.
For the Casual semi formal outings where you need to look respectable, but not dressy, like a cricket game with your friends at your favorite BAR or a date with your girlfriend.
  •  Loafers are a must have this season. Have a look at the collection of loafers POLO has in stores this   summer with check prints, laces etc...(P.S. Please get a pair of no show ankle socks or don’t wear one with loafers…I have begged my little brother to stop wearing socks with loafers coz that is one hell of a disaster)
  •  Leather sneakers…again Try Polo or Adidas for those good to go pairs.
  •  Invest in a pair of lightweight, stable Leather Sandals that show you care what you look like, but still allow you to be comfortable. Louis Philippe has got amazing collection of leather sandals in hues of mud, beige and tan. They range in between 3k-4k but totally worth the price.
