Whether
cut from a pair of denims, balanced with a blazer or seemingly swiped from an
old aerobics class, the ultra-short bottoms are "in every single
store," says Seventeen fashion director Gina Kelly. Recent
trends steer away from the longer Bermuda-style pants and more towards short
shorts. (Think mid-thigh and up.) When worn with heels or wedge
sandals, shorts can make your legs look longer and leaner. Pair them with
ballet flats or sandals and a silk shirt for a polished, preppy look, or just toss
on a tee and a pair of oversized sunglasses to don a classic, retro style.
Short
shorts require something more intangible to pull on — and pull off- It's your
attitude..spot on! Now this little piece of clothing can burn a hole in
your pocket, esp. if you want something trendier. So do as i say. You needn't
necessarily spend big bucks to keep up with these latest trends. Just revamp
your wardrobe by indulging in some DIY.
- All you need is a pair of humble denim shorts or an old well fitted denim, a flair for creativity and most importantly oodles of patience (it's always worth it!).
- Revamp your oldest shorts inspired by this Zara beauty. Simply stitch a lace panel on either side of the shorts neatly and you have a brand new high street-esque piece in your closet. Depending on the shade of your shorts, you can choose from white, black, beige or even pastel colored lace fabrics.
- One of the easiest ways to spruce up your ragged denim shorts is to embellish it with studs and spikes. A visit to the local market and you will be amazed at the variety of such embellishments available today. Wear this with a tank and accessorize with metallic accessories.
- This one allows for a great level of personalization. Simply detach the existing denim pockets to replace with what best defines you. While ikkat print pockets would be my first choice, you can choose from comic prints, neon patches, a quote or even a caricature!
- Bring out the grungy in you with these Alexander Wang inspired shorts right off the runway. With a razor fray the denim right and add some metallic chains to create a similar effect. Wear with a basic tee for a casual day out or layer with a boyfriend blazer and booties.
- This one is perhaps my favorite! Arm yourself with the same colored lace in varying sizes and then unleash your creative best by overlapping the lace tastefully to recreate a similar effect.
DIY
and have fun! xoxo
