Rompers and playsuits have enjoyed extreme popularity in the past several years. They’ve invaded the women’s closets all around the world and it is easy to find out why: they are charming are comfortable. Their comfort and versatility make them an awesome staple in anyone’s wardrobe...especially for the scorching summers. The look is perfect for shopping, weekend errands, or a class. Seeing them in stores and all over magazines is a pretty good clue about how they’ve caught on, They’re for the bold and confident. The great thing about jumpsuits is they make such a comfortable day-time look, but add a couple of glam elements like a cute clutch and a statement jewelry piece, and you’ve instantly got a night-time look! Comfy and sexy at the same time!! The store Ten west here has an amazing collection of jumpsuits, playsuits and rompers in cotton, lycra, polyester in the range of  995 to 1995 INR... :)

Obsessed with Makeup!!

Make-up...people say it can make anyone look beautiful! Undoubtedly, beauty comes from within yourself, and makeup is just there to help you feel prettier and give you the confidence to strut your amazing self down the street.

I’m personally not a big fan of everyday make-up, but I do like bringing out the best in me whenever I go for a party or an outing. Thanks to my genes, I have a clear skin. Plus I’ve never experimented with any beauty brand other than L’Oreal Paris. It has always worked for me and suits my skin type. In routine I use L’Oreal Paris’s UV PERFECT Lightly Tinted SPF 30+ Daily Moisturizing Lotion. It gives you a hydrated and smooth finish along with prevention from sun damage.

  • L’Oreal Paris Base Magique primer
  • L’Oreal Paris Gel eye liner
  • L’Oreal Paris True Match foundation in golden beige
  • L’Oreal Paris True Match concealer in Medium (N 4-5)
  • L’Oreal Paris True Match pressed powder in golden beige
  • L’Oreal Paris True Match blush in rosewood and peach
  • L’Oreal Paris Volume million lashes mascara
  • L’Oreal Paris Mineral kohl
  • L’Oreal Paris Chrome Shine eye shadow for an effortless smokey look!

Coming to make-up products now...my beauty kit includes:

We all are aware of the basics of make-up application...Washing the face properly and then applying the primer. However, ensure that you do your eye-makeup first so that you can clean up any traces of it on your face later. Then do the face. Mix your foundation with moisturizer and apply it on your face. Dab on the concealer where required, use the slightest amount of pressed powder and give that rosy effect to your cheeks with the blush. I will now give you some of the tricks that I use while applying make-up ;)

For the eyes:
  • I have small eyes so I do not ever line my lower waterline with dark color kohl. Always apply it outside the waterline.
  • Instead of lining your lower waterline with a white/nude pencil which is usually done to make eyes look bigger, just line your upper waterline, this looks a lot more natural and is less visible but still has the same effect.
  • Tap on your mascara at the root of your lashes instead of wiggling it. This makes lashes appear even thicker and ensures an even application.
  • I usually struggle with the application of eyeliner. So instead of gliding the brush along my lash line, I press the brush into my lash line starting from the outer corner of the eye and working my way in. It saves all the hassle to create a straight line.
  • While applying an eye shadow, don’t make any crease on your eyelids and then fill it up. Instead get a blending brush and blend the color to give a softer look. Always start from the outer corner of the eye with a darker color and keep blending it into the eye so that it gets lighter as you work your way to the inner corner.

For the face:
  • Always use a primer for smooth finish.
  • Apply the foundation with your fingers so it glides over the skin easily, but blend it in and out with a foundation brush. This will give you a flawless, natural looking finish.
  • Mix a small amount of foundation with a primer instead of your moisturizer. This gives a sheer, dewy, longer effect and it helps the product to sit on the skin rather than being absorbed. If your skin is dry than then prep the skin with a lightweight moisturizer later to prevent a patchy look.
  • If you want a sculpted face, buy another shade of foundation a tone lighter than your skin tone. Apply a foundation in a shade lighter on your T-zone and for the outer parts of your face use a darker tone.
  • Do not ever rub the concealer while hiding the blemishes, instead do a dot application and dab it with your fingers. If you’re out of concealer, you can use a small amount of dried up foundation from the lid instead.
  • Use the least amount of Face powder to avoid looking too made up. I personally just slightly swipe the brush across my face.
  • Apply your blush while your foundation is still damp, this way the color looks more intense, but still natural given you blend it well.
  • Don’t ever apply blush on the hollows of your cheekbone. Apply it to the apples of the cheek and then blend up towards the temples.
  • You can apply a little blush on the bridge of your nose to give a more sculpted look to a round/oval face.
  • I believe that I have a perfect cupid bow on my lips. So I use a white eye pencil very softly around the cupid’s bow of my lips, to draw attention to them and make them look more feminine.
  • I hate applying lip colors. The only shade I like is a pretty coral, and I haven’t found that perfect shade yet. So, what I do is that I apply a bright red lipstick. Then I leave it for 5 minutes and Follow by blotting with a pre-moistened face wipe 4- 5 times lightly wiping some of the color off. Then I use my favorite clear gloss in the centre of the bottom lip and top of the cupids bow to get that perfect plump.
  • Use a white eye pencil very softly around the cupids bow of your lips, this draws attention to them and make them look more feminine without looking over the top like concealer or highlighter.

Get the basics right!

Happy weekend everyone!!!! I'm going to discuss about he staples of your wardrobe today...the Classics! Basics allow you to be classy while giving you the freedom to be creative and expressive of your personal style and individuality. With that in mind, here are some tips on how you can make the basics uniquely yours!

1) The Classic White Shirt and Jeans

Now, a basic must-have is your classic white shirt. Team it up with some fabulous fitting jeans. Then follow your matching belt-tote-shoe rule, maybe in tan. Wear natural make-up (nude lips, coral blush and eye-shadow, kohl and mascara) and tie up your hair in a neat high ponytail, gelling the crown of your head to give you that crisp neat look. This look can easily take you through the day, a movie date, or a semi-formal meeting.

2) Your Classic LBD
Everyone should invest in a good LBD – however, our figures keep changing all the time. Now you can still wear that little black dress of yours with a little twist. Team it up with your best-fitted short skirt (perhaps one that is a bit flared to counter any flab on your lower body.) Alternatively, if you are one of the lucky ones with a fabulous hourglass figure, don on your body-hugging mini skirt to enhance your curves. This is my idea of a fine balance between trendy and classic ;) To finish off the look, you can accessorize with red lips!

3) The Beautiful Summer/Day Dress

Your very feminine, pastel shade, strappy frilly dress can also be spiced up by adding an additional layer.  Try a light fabric jacket which could again be in a white or a pastel in order to keep with the mood. A jacket can take you from the day right through the evening, without ever losing its understated elegance.

4) Formal Pants

I know, I know, how we hate wearing those formal pants to work. However, they are not as boring as you may think. Get your basic navy, beige and black colored trousers and look for the right fit. Then, try ankle pants, cropped pants, slim fits, flared, and high-waist – there is so much you can do with them.  Team them with medium heeled wedges, stilettos, or ankle boots. The trendy cut of the pants and the 4-inch heel will instantly give that boring formal wear a glamorous lift :)

5) The All-Purpose Jacket

Jackets need not mean manly looking blazers. Choose a lightweight one that follows the silhouette of your body and accentuates your curves. Pick one in a neutral shade so as to increase its wear ability. You can team it up with your day dresses, racer back and strappy tees, or formal blouses. The possibilities with jackets are endless!

I’m sure by now you have a fair idea of how to play around with your basics and use them as an expression of your creativity! Remember, basics are your wardrobe must-haves. They help you create versatility in your wardrobe as they can be easily mixed and matched. They are money–savers as a single piece can give you so many different looks. And, they take you anywhere from the day right through the evening as they’re easy to dress up or down. So go out and experiment now!
